So you’ve been writing in your journal now for quite a while? Does it feel like something is missing?

Maybe it is time to take your journaling to the next level.

Here are 3 tips to do just that!

  1. Write About What Scares You

Sometimes we need to get out of our comfort zone. Try writing about what scares you. This will help you to get a better understanding of what makes you tick. You will be delving deeper into your thoughts when you are journaling, instead of just writing about your day.

We can easily fall into a pattern of writing the same type of thing, day in and day out. I know sometimes I choose to go with what is easy and comfortable.  I write about what the children have done, what I had for dinner, who I met up with that day or what I plan to do next.

I don’t tend to write about things that could get me thinking. For example, I don’t choose to write about my fear of failure with my business. I don’t tend to write about how I look in the mirror and don’t like what I see.

To reveal more about yourself, to understand yourself more, you need to write about what scares you.

This could be thoughts and concerns about things that are happening now or in the future.

Maybe, like me, you live with anxiety and want to talk about things that you wouldn’t usually, because of your anxiety.

A journal is a safe place to do this. A journal can’t judge you, question you or hurt you.

One thing you have to do though, is be honest with yourself.

  1. Try Scripting

Scripting is a style of writing often used in law of attraction and personal development, where you write in the present tense, as if what you are trying to manifest has already happened.

Scripting tends to start with a lot of “I am” instead of “I want to” or “I hope”. Even if this thing hasn’t even happened yet, you are writing as if it already has.

This then puts you in the mindset of how you will feel when this goal is met or you achieve that life accomplishment.

Think about what you want your life to be like. Write about how it will change, how it will make you feel. Write all of those details down.

  1. Journal Your Biggest Secrets

We all have big, hidden secrets that we never tell anyone, not even in our journals? Admittedly we fear that one day someone may read it and that is why we are never 100% true to ourselves in our journals.

Now might be a good time to start. Obviously you will want to make sure your journal is private and that nobody will ever be able to read it. Once you find a way to do that, (password protected file?) start writing down your secrets. Let them just pour out. Some of the secrets may be small, they may be absolute stonkers of a secret! Whatever they are, get them out of your head. These could be things you’ve never admitted but need to get off your chest.

It can be extremely therapeutic when there is something you can’t tell anyone and you just have to keep to yourself.
